Liu Yifei is upstaged by Gong Li. My favourite review of the movie that I think summarises it well is that "is a movie created by committee" it tries not to offend anyone so much that it lessens the plot, prevents character development and makes everything a bit rigid. What Disney has tried to do is to copy the formula of the force from "Rey's" character in Star Wars, but it doesn't quite work. But for a movie that is meant to inspire a generation of young girls, all it says is you can be equal in a mans world but never at the top.
